Soft scalloped potatoes?
I'm making scalloped potatoes tonight. I use a recipe from allrecipes.com where you make a sauce in a pan first then layer potatoes,ham,sauce,onion repeat.Normally, its the potatoes on top that seem to get most soft and they hardly have any sauce to soak in. but the potatoes soaking on the bottom are kind of hard still.

I peeled potato's yesterday afternoon late and ended up getting side tracked, and left them on the stove all nite long in a pan of water. They were raw.I decided to go ahead and slice them this morning and rinse them really well to make scalloped potato's for lunch. I am making scalloped potatoes tonight for my bf and his friends and their gf...i have a recipe that works perfectly (no need to go to the store) just curious if I could make it in advance cover it and put it in the fridge until I have an idea when we are going to eat? or do I have to put it all together and cook it right away? also if I do put it in the fridge for a while how much will that affect the cooking time? thanks!without cooking it at all first....so assembling it and then immediately putting it in the fridge
